Thermochromic Paints are designed to change colour at specific temperatures giving a visual indication of a temperature change. This can be used for activities such as safety indicators on thermally sensitive systems, indication of the thermal history or R&D components, over temperature safety indicators in the petrochemical industry, etc. These paints function by the action of chemical change within solid components of the coating. The colour change is non-reversible within this range. The paints are designed to be thermally stable when used below their first temperature change level. When the coatings approach their first colour change the reaction will occur quickly at the specified temperature or gradually if the paint is held within a few tens of degrees of the change temperature.

They can be used in many temperature critical areas, to include as safety indicators on thermally sensitive substrates, indications of the thermal history in the petrochemical industry and in R&D development programmes.
These paints function by the action of chemical change within the solid components of the coating.
CT-115-REV1 is non-reversible, hence the change in colour will be permanent.
The coating is designed to be thermally stable when used below its first temperature change level. When the coating approaches the first temperature change level, the reaction will occur quickly. If the coating is held within tens of degrees of the change temperature, a more gradual change will be observed.
CT-115-REV1 is formulated on a blend of silicone and acrylic resins, to allow fast air-drying and surface hardness. For external applications, a clear glaze coat may be applied to increase durability.
First colour change will occur at 115oC (239oF), where the initial pink colour will start to change to a mauve. By 145oC (293oF) the colour will have changed to blue and will retain this colour on further temperature increase up to 300oC (572oF).
