We have a wide range of aircraft engine paint to choose from – including elastomeric erosion coating. This coating is for engine nose spinners, where temperatures as low as -50c can be experienced.
IPCOTE COATINGS FOR AIRCRAFT ENGINES
We also have a range of sacrificial anti-corrosion coatings. These coatings are used on blades and stators in the high-pressure compressor and operate up to 650-700c.
For instance, the IP9183-R1 Ipcote High Heat Resistant Sacrificial Aluminium Coating offers defence against atmospheres heavy in salt, high-temperature oxidation, chemicals, and abrasives.
Furthermore, at temperatures up to 700°C, the coating protects iron, steel, heat-treated stainless steel alloys, titanium, and other metallic substrates against corrosion and oxidation. Additionally, Ipcote IP9183-R1 may also be vibro- or super-polished. Consequently, air flow in aeroplane engines, where smooth surfaces are necessary to increase energy efficiency, will be improved.
We work closely with the design engineers of all the major engine manufacturers. As a result, we develop more advanced aerospace coatings for latest generation engines. For example, geared fan technologies.
We are always aware of the requirements of both legislation and environmental issues. Therefore, our R&D team continuously work on totally chrome-free systems. These systems, at a minimum, replicate the technical performance of traditional chromate containing systems.
